Hebrews Chp 3: Christ Jesus as Apostolic High Priest?

Revelatory grace walk through, verse by verse study of, Hebrews 3.
Wherefore
(#1) consider Christ Jesus as the Apostolic High Priest of Law.
Wherefore (#2) Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye (do err) will hear his voice.
Wherefore (#3) I was grieved by they do err: they shall not enter my rest.

Wherefore: Consider Christ Jesus (law) vs Jesus Christ (grace and truth).
Consider (for what reason): the man Christ Jesus is Apostolic High Priest.
Hear what Ghostly Law saith; From both sides of L/R heavens on "high".

Hebrews Chp 3  -  Hebrews Chapter 3  -  Hebrews 3

Grace unto you, and peace,
from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ

Theme of Hebrews Chapter 3: Take Heed.
The deceitfulness of sin is sourced in the deceitfulness of law;
So take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil (law) heart.

Wherefore (the reason or purpose) Christ Jesus is the Apostolic High Priest.
That generation: they do alway err (law): is the reason they shall not enter my rest.
There's no rest (peace) in law (worketh wrath) to be had, so take heed not to go there.

As the first verse tends to set the chapter theme, Hebrews (holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling) are asked to "consider" (
perceive, remark, observe, understand) Christ Jesus (the reverse of Jesus Christ) as an Apostolic High Priest, the Mosaic house of law, and what(?) the Holy Ghost saith about such.

Such profession, of law, involved hardened hearts by the deceitfulness of sin
(not of God: 2Cor 5:19), temptation (not of God: James 1:13), works (
plural: grace + law; not of God: Jn 17:4), a generation (40 yrs) of grief (not of God: Mt 23:4), err (not of God: Mt 5:48), ways (not of God: Jn 14:6), and wrath (not of God: Lk 6:36); And to the point of not enter for all due to some did provoke. In short, what we're considering is the provocation, of a law God, unto law worketh wrath (again not of God: 1Th 5:9).

"Wherefore" x 3: 'oyen' & 'dio' & 'oyen' in the greek, is followed by "take heed". But "give (more earnest) heed" was exhorted for "escape" in Heb 2, escaping the destruction of law worketh wrath in Heb 3, and upon all if only some did provoke it. And perhaps such "give" and "take" in Hebrews is as tricky to navigate as Revelation, both written by Paul The Apostle: who is notably not only a revelator of "mystery", but also a "faithful steward of the mysteries of God" in such things are an allegory.
................................................................................

Hebrews 3:1
Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;

Wherefore (#1 of 3 wherefores in Hebrews 3)... Wherefore occurs 80 times from Matthew 6 to Hebrews 3. Wherefore holy brethren ... Paul acknowledges all as "brethren", even the bewitched churches of Galatia; but now refers to Hebrews as "holy brethren", perhaps satirically noting they are law(holy) brethren. Yet what remains to be seen is such law brethren makes divisional sides, two holies, plural heavens, Gods. Hebrews 3 is about looking at their side, law, considering the deceitfulness of law, the hardheartedness of law, and the dead end of sin consciousness via law: the source of sin and the strength of sin's death sting; And about realizing wrath is not of God, not the "living" God, rather of a dead God of such dead/living Gods, false God of false/true Gods. When considering "Wherefore", we should also look into "Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son": Galatians 4:7.

Partakers of the heavenly calling ... Both light and darkness are called, but light is called day, darkness is called night, and each have a different ruler. However the heavenly calling (invitation) to embrace salvation of by grace alone is not both grace + law nor both come + depart for both right + left as in Matthew 25. The heavenly calling is y'all come, come now let us reason together, come ye blessed. And such blessed isn't the first of twain blesseds in Romans 4:7,8 (Ps 32:1,2); but the better "man" kind of blessed: no sin imputed. The heavenly calling is also a calling (invitation) by the "heavenly" name: grace: the "name of" our Father, and the "name of" our Lord Jesus Christ, which is also "the name by which ye are called" to come to repentance (to change, from faith to faith and from glory to glory): by His "grace".

Consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus ... Christ Jesus, as Apostolic High Priest? It's tricky stuff, for victory is not through Christ Jesus; But rather "God hath given us the victory through Jesus Christ". Christ Jesus is mirrorly the reverse of Jesus Christ. Grace and truth came by "Jesus Christ" (John 1:17). Eternal salvation is notably through Jesus --> Christ; Only in Christ thereof. Peace with God is also through "Jesus --> Christ". The reverse, Christ Jesus, would be war with God, a merciless law God. Song: I fought the law and the law won, should ring a bell. Selah. So we should all consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession; Consider what we profess to be ours if our profession is law, which imputes sin to all by the curse of the law, which imputes a death sting to all if any go there, to law imputed sin. For if our profession is law, then what we profess to be ours is sin and death.

Hebrews 3:2 Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses in all his house.

faithful to him that appointed him... In considering Christ Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest of the profession of the Hebrews: law, it's noted he was faithful to him that appointed him. Looking back at first mention of Christ Jesus in Acts 19:4, it seems John the Baptist appointed him (to be believed on). John the Baptist got beheaded for accusing a king of sin, perhaps allegoric for his accusation-all law getting abolished.
as also Moses in all his house... The house of Moses is the law.

Hebrews 3:3
For this [man] was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house.

In such a hierarchical house as law, there seems to be more glory for some; and perhaps why the second mention of house in the greek is as a backward baffling wind. For in the household of true God and Son the same glory, grace glory, is unto all (we all are one). For there is no respect of persons with God.

Hebrews 3:4 For every house is builded by some [man]; but he that built all things [is] God.

House building?

Hebrews 3:5 And Moses verily [was] faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;

Moses was faithful, but as a servant. The higher calling is thou art no more a servant, but a friend, Son, brother. For servants know not what their master doeth, and servants differ not from know not children. So the higher calling is also "be no more children". In other words grow up, and grow in grace --> mercy --> peace.

Hebrews 3:6
But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.

But... whenever there's a "But" a comparison is being made; The comparison here being between servant and son. A servant gets told what to Do-teronomy & Don't-eronomy. Yet a son, even if the heir of all things, differeth nothing from a servant as long as he is a child. Let us be aware of a difference between a Christ of Christ Jesus, and the Christ of Jesus Christ, perhaps is as if the begin and end of law; even as if the begin and end of sorrows via this and that gospels. Peace with God is notably through Jesus --> Christ. The Christ "that God" (of this/that Gods) was in, and notably reconciling the world (not some only) unto himself, is "the end of the law" (Romans 10:4), and not the mend of law. It's an allegory, and mystery to solve.

Hebrews 3:7
Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,

Wherefore (#2 of 3) ... the two different "Wherefore"s (oyen and dio in greek) indicating a comparative allegorical teaching is occuring, an allegoric comparison is being made, perhaps of two Holies, one a Holy Ghost, the other a "living God", a Spirit (not a Ghost). Perhaps the comparison is between dead vs living Gods, Law vs Grace, and any oxymoronic mixture thereof being a deadly combo: Grace + Law(added) = Life + Death(added).

Hebrews 3:8
Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:

as in the provocation... "as in Adam(them) all die", the "as in" them, denoting it's allegoric
in the day of temptation... God does not tempt anyone nor can God be tempted (James)

Hebrews 3:9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.

your fathers tempted me... Let us note true God (pure Grace) cannot be tempted (lawed) with evil (law): James 1:13. Here we have ample evidence the Holy Ghost is not Godly, for God can neither be tempted nor tempteth anyone; And the living God is merciful, not merciless: all who despised Moses' law died "without mercy".
my works... plural "works" speak of grace + law. Minsiters thereof are said to be ministers of Satan, whose end shall be according to their "works": life + death = a dead end (2Corinthians 11:15). Such grace + law is also as blessed + cursed = accursed (Galatians 1:9). There is only one work which God gave to JC, and he finished such "work" before the cross (John 17). Such work was bringing forth the truth about the law: it's a liar, thief, killer which oughta be given no place. Such work was taking grace + law and making it grace vs law, grace or law, "either make the tree good or evil", not both good + evil, for both is an oxymoronic paradox with a bad ending.

Hebrews 3:10
Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in [their] heart; and they have not known my ways.

Wherefore... #3 of 3, oyen again of oyen, dio, oyen in greek
I was grieved with, provoked by, that generation... Law doesn't permit any blasphemy nor ever forgive it either.
They do alway err (law) in their heart, and thereby they defile (condemn; law) themselves with their own mouth.
They have not known my ways... God has but one way, which leadeth to life (by go on unto perfection); And when plural ways are mentioned, well, the oxymoronic combo is grace + law which leads to saved + destroyed after: Jude 5.

Hebrews 3:11 So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)

I sware in my wrath... Law worketh Wrath: Romans 4:15. God (Grace) hath not appointed us to wrath (law): 1Th 5:9. So we're not talking the God of all grace, since the God of all grace has no wrath (law), nor ever forsakes as Law does.
They shall not enter into my rest... looking at, and adding up, the no enter verses throughout the gospels and epistles seems to exclude everyone by law, whereas grace includes everyone for wholeness.

Hebrews 3:12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.

Take heed... occurs 24 times from Matthew 6 to Hebrews 3. Take heed: Mt 6:1; Take heed: Mt 16:6; Take heed: Mt 18:10; Take heed: Mt 24:4; Take heed: Mk 4:24; Take heed: Mk 8:15; Take heed: Mk 13:5; Take heed: Mk 13:9; Take heed: Lk 8:18; Take heed: Lk 11:35; Take heed: Lk 12:15; Take heed: Lk 17:3; Take heed: Lk 21:8; Take heed: Lk 21:34; Take heed: Acts 5:35; Take heed: Acts 20:28; Take heed: Acts 22:26; Take heed: Rom 11:21; Take heed: 1Cor 3:10; Take heed: 1Cor 8:9; Take heed: 1Cor 10:12; Take heed: Gal 5:15; Take heed: Col 4:17; Take heed: 1Tim 4:16. The main reason to take heed is not to get deceived by the deceitfulness of law imputed sin. For if ye (do err; do law) bite and devour one another, then ye are consumed one of another, by such law vs law is as loser vs loser.

in departing from the living God
... so the dead God: law, is compared to the "living God": grace, who is also God of the living; the only wise God of foolish/wise Gods, the only true God of false/true Gods, the God of all grace (no law at all). One departs from the living God: grace to go to the dead God: law; which is called a fall in Galatians 5:4, and in Hebrews 10 such a fall is called a fearful thing, since fear hath torment, and torment is not peaceful (restful).

Hebrews 3:13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

exhort one another... exhorting involves summoning or coming along side and reasoning what's evident from the evidence (such as it's evident from the evidence that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God: Galatians 3). Exhorting (to go up higher) is also done from above, whereas edifying up to the right side of things on high is done from below. Charity first edifies up from below, but then also exhorts from above to go up higher than on high.

while it is called To day... allegorically To light(God called the light day), To enLIGHTenment, To get it: understanding

deceitfulness of sin... law being both source (Rom 5:13) and strength of sin (1Cor 15:56), is about as deceitful as it gets

Hebrews 3:14
For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;

If Christ is the end of the law (Romans 10:4), then we are made partakers of the end of the law (no law = no sin)

Hebrews 3:15
While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.

if ye will hear his voice ...ye that desire to be under the law, do you not hear the law? what the law does is curse every one, condemn every one, minister death to every one. What the unjust judge (law) does is take vengeance on those who ask to be avenged. Hardened hearts (plural) tend to be LAW<--Law, which is a latter state worse, not better.

Hebrews 3:16
For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.

only some provoked in the wilderness, yet all died (Jude 5), making it clear if any law, or even give place to the law by trying to reason or argue with it, then it's all die, via the curse of the law.

Hebrews 3:17 But with whom was he grieved forty years? [was it] not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?

whose carcases fell in the wilderness...Since blasphemy the Ghost is unpardonable (Law is inexcusable), both in this world and the to come, well, that alone ought to be good enough reason for all to flush all law. For when looking at Numbers and at Jude 1:5 we find that all the originals saved out of Egypt were also destroyed afterward by such Mosaic grace + law(added) = saved + destroyed(after) = bad ending.

When looking at "them" in such verses, it seems clear it is not God, not that God; For to wit, "that God" was in Christ reconciling the world unto himself, "not imputing their trespasses unto "them" (2Cor 5:19). The real God, the God of all grace, the living God, does not impute sin. That God is merciful, to all; not vengeful to any.

Hebrews 3:18 And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?

to whom sware he... such question is also answered: to "them", which is biblically defined in Genesis 5 as first Adam, Mr & Mrs Adam, "them" of them/us, created of created/made, imperfect of imperfect/perfect, law of law/grace, child of child/man, foolish of foolish/wise, etc. Such is allegorically the first part of a two part shew, "in our image" of (i) in our image / (ii) after our likeness: the before of such before/after, the not be of not be/be, what not to be of twain things such as Law/Grace. Them (of them/us) believed not grace is sufficient, so they added "law worketh wrath" to "grace is sufficient", and such killed them all dead, not to mention "fear hath torment" and law produces infirimites.

Hebrews 3:19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

So we see... in  considering the law of such law/grace, we see it's deceitful, sin conscious, and deadly, to the point of no enter, and for all if any provoke, and some always do provoke it in ignorance law is the strength of sin, thereby law uses your legalism against you, to kill you dead. Seeing is believing, now faith of then/now faiths, seeing faith of blind/seeing faiths, is about seeing via the evidence, making it evident that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God.

Hebrews 4 (verse by verse commentary) continued on next page -->

Hebrews Chapter 3 Footnote:
Exhort one another while it is called To day. No time like the present, which is To day, To en-light-en(Gen 1), To get  and give enlightenment, To us-ward, To you-ward, To get it: understanding. Why? lest "any" be hardened through the DECEITFULNESS of sin, sin imputation, sin consciousness, which comes by law, the source of sin and the strength of sin's death sting. Adding any law at all to grace is sufficient, even one lousy tree law (as in Genesis 2:17),  imputes sin (Rom 4:15b; 5:13b), and is deceitful, a lie, a snare; for it makes all sinners, none righteous, and the penalty for any sin is death to all via the curse of the law, which is non existence, dinosaurs. The POINT being made is if any add law to grace is sufficient it can bring forth the death of all, for "a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump", like a little cancer us law can and will kill the whole body, including the head of the body, if not all removed in time. Hence it is allegorically called the "operation" of God to remove all law in time. And it is allegorically exhorted to "find grace", in time, to help solve the mystery of grace + law = life + death. Selah.

Think from the end (the conclusion, the last trump) already (Pauline) written:
Conclusion of To The Hebrews (mini bible itself): "Grace with you all. Amen." (Hebrews 13:25)
Conclusion of Holy Bible: "
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen." (Revelation 22:21)
